Abstract:
In the presented study the dynamic behaviour of an experimental facility is simulated by use of velocity model taking into consideration the decrease of the friction coefficient during the sliding phase. The obtained numerical results demonstrate that the velocity model, which allows an easy incorporation of non-uniform friction coefficient during the sliding phase, gives a possibility of modelling the "pinching" of hysteresis loops recorded during the experimental tests of steel-steel interfaces. The decreasing of friction coefficient during the sliding phase leads to an increase of the relative displacement of the sliding surfaces. This phenomenon could be important for the design of friction devices, where the drift of the sliding surfaces is restricted (for example the slotted bolted connections).
