Abstract:
Many commercial software packages allow designers to define, analyze, and design reinforced concrete (RC) structural elements such as beams, columns, and slabs parametrically. Programs have also been developed to automate the design of simple RC structures such as box culverts. Software that generates three-dimensional, solid models of complete RC structures given a small number of input parameters, however, is still in development. This article presents a method that simplifies model development for concrete structures for use in current available finite element analysis programs.
