Abstract:
Well over 100,000 copies of Formwork for Concrete (SP-4) have been sold by the American Concrete Institute since the first edition came off the press in 1963. The book’s comprehensive coverage, abundant illustration, step-by-step design examples, and numerous tables presenting design information and material properties are the key reasons for its widespread acceptance. As SP-4 celebrates its fortieth year in print, let’s examine some of the notable ways in which forming materials and methods have changed over the years, as reflected in the pages of this industry standard.
