Abstract:
As part of the ABET-accredited civil engineering program at the United States Military Academy (USMA), cadets take class CE 483, Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures. The course includes classroom instruction focused on understanding member behavior and properly applying ACI 318 through an engineering design problem, biweekly homework assignments, and a comprehensive laboratory program. This article describes the recently revised laboratory program that has proven an important component of a successful reinforced concrete design class.
