Abstract:
Fibrous composite materials are currently used to reinforce concrete beams, girders, and/or slabs in innovative infrastructure throughout the world. The Bridge Street Bridge Deployment Project in Southfield, MI, is an example of one such innovative project where bridge members are reinforced and prestressed almost entirely with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) tendons and strands. This article will focus on the details and findings related to a field load test conducted on one of the project’s bridges, Structure B, after construction completion.
