Abstract:
This article tabulates the records of more than 20 major pavement blowups that have occurred both in this country and abroad. This, the second part of a two-part article, contains documented information about this long-term adverse pavement behavior, the effect of this behavior on end-jointed continuous bridges and jointless (or integral) bridges, and the lack of awareness within the bridge engineering profession of the pavement growth/pressure phenomenon.
