Abstract:
Engineers at MEVA designed their Imperial Formwork System for the rugged requirements of the American concreting market. The system aims for greater ease of formwork use while not sacrificing a high quality of finished concrete, offers multifunctionality, resists high hydraulic pressures during concrete placement, and among other attributes, meets the safety criteria dictated on U.S. construction projects as well. Atlanta, GA’s Archern Western Contractors, Ltd. chose the new frame formwork system for its construction work on one of the largest water treatment facilities ever built in the southern U.S.: Atlanta’s R.L. Sutton Reclamation Facility. Reduced wall porosity along with surface smoothness and evenness are critical not only for durability and aesthetics, but help to reduce the chances of spore and bacteria colonies gaining a foothold within imperfections on basin walls in contact with water under treatment. Such results had to be maintained throughout the heavy formwork reuse required during the course of the project.
