Abstract:
Analytical procedures are described for considering the effects of shear on the deformation response of reinforced concrete frames. Also presented are the details and results of a corroborative test program involving a large-scale frame model. The theoretical and experimental investigations undertaken show that shear-related effects, through various direct and indirect means, can contribute significantly to frame deformation. Load capacity and failure mechanism can also be influenced. The analysis procedure is shown to provide fairly accurate predictions of these influences.
