Abstract:
All concrete cracks to some degree, either visibly and/or invisibly. Very wide cracks might cause concerns about structural integrity, corrosion of the reinforcing steel, or aesthetics, but most narrow cracks don’t seem to get even a second look. That’s often not the case with random cracks in unreinforced interior floor slabs and residential driveways, patios, and other slabs on ground. The tendency to consider every crack as a fatal flaw is just not realistic or sensible. These types of cracks need not be the curse of death, or a food source for litigation.
