Abstract:
Various “how to” facets of a concrete pipeline investigation are covered, including awareness of deterioration and/or failure; selection of historical data; preparations stemming from document and design review; conduct of site investigations and samplings; testing and evaluation of materials; and the diagnoses and determination of the causes of deterioration. Emphasis is placed on having experience with concrete materials, interior pipe linings and coatings as well as the potential reactions to aggressive environments. Two case histories of concrete pipeline evaluations are presented to demonstrate guidelines application in actual situations.
