Abstract:
In 1998, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) adopted a revised guideline to assist “in the development of a temporary bracing plan to resist surface wind forces in tilt-up construction.” The guideline presents equations for determining the construction wind load on wall panels, the resulting horizontal and vertical brace reactions, and the weight of floor slab required to safely resist these reactions. This article discusses the highlights of the guideline and its application to multistory tilt-up construction.
