Abstract:
Precast, prestressed concrete continues to gain popularity among owners, architects, engineers, and contractors. The technology is being employed in an ever-growing range of projects: bridges, offices, retail stores, food-processing plants, parking structures, warehouses, prisons, dormitories, and even single-family housing. Innovations such as high-performance precast concrete and all-precast structural systems are more commonplace as designers utilize the capabilities and advantages offered by the method. To aid the design and construction team, the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) offers a wide range of programs for professionals throughout the industry.
