Abstract:
Although unbonded post-tensioning has been used in the U.S. since the 1950s, there have been considerable changes in the industry over the years. As a result, project specifications have often provided incomplete, and sometimes conflicting, requirements. This article discusses some of the common field problems that occur on projects with unbonded post-tensioning. Well-written project specifications, qualified installers, properly trained inspectors, and timely answers from the design engineer will generally prevent minor problems from becoming major incidents.
