Abstract:
A criterion is proposed for mixed Mode I–III fracture. The criterion has been tested against the behavior of conventional compact tension specimens of cement mortar that were subjected to mixed Mode I–III loading through a set of loading fixtures designed to provide various ratios of Mode I/III stress intensity factors KI and KIII. The stress intensity factors of the respective modes of loading were determined by FE analysis, where data preprocessing was undertaken by PATRAN, while the solution process was carried out via ABAQUS. As a result of the analyses and measurements made with the servohydraulic testing machine, the proposed fracture envelope was confirmed.
