Abstract:
Sulfur concrete has certain advantages in the manufacture of precast products for a wide variety of applications. Many such products, made commercially in Canada over a 20-year-period with both "wet" and "dry" cast methods, are described here. Both structural and nonstructural applications are considered. The main characteristics of the material are its very fast setting enabling rapid recycling of molds, high physical strength, water impermeability, extreme resistance to salt, acids, and other chemicals, the high finish which may be obtained, lack of fatigue on cyclic loading, and high durability in aggressive environments.
