Abstract:
The 65-ft prestressed concrete girders at Manhattenville College do not represent any spectacular advance in the use of prestressed concrete. They do, however, constitute the first major application of prestressing to building constructio in this country and demonstrate a new system of tensioning and achoring parallel wire cables with greater control and accuracy then was possible heretofore.
