Abstract:
The ablity of simply supported post-tensioned concrete beams to span more than 150 ft makes it important that such members be designed for maximum economy. This paper shows the effects of varying the cross-sectional shape and size on the load capacity of any form of post-tensioned beam. The parts of the cross section above and below the center of gravity of the entire concrete section are analyzed seperately.
