Abstract:
Deep reveals, panes of ribbon glass, and intricate cast-in design concepts have given site-cast tilt-up construction many new faces. With growth in the office, education, and retail markets, today’s tilt-up structures offer wider architectural appeal. At present, tilt-up construction can accomplish what was once deemed quite difficult in terms of architectural treatment including deeper reveals. But these advances are now possible only with greater attention to important details in related aspects of structural engineering. Some experienced design practitioners overlook variables necessary to fully understand the design implications of tilt-up’s architectural advancements.
