Abstract:
Recent applications of sulfur concrete in the fertilizer and metal refining industries have proven that large scale installations of this material can be economical, and provide a durable long-term solution for concrete corrosion problems. This paper explains sulfur concrete technology, sulfur concrete equipment development, and identifies considerations to be made for large-scale field applications. To effectively evaluate the economic feasibility of using sulfur concrete for a project, the cost of finished in-place sulfur concrete should be compared to the costs of portland cement concrete with a protection system.
