Abstract:
Samples of undamaged and corroded steel reinforcing bars from the abandoned, deteriorated Dickson Bridge in Montreal, Canada, were tested in tension to establish how the mechanical properties are affected by corrosion. The study found that the ductility of the reinforcing bars decreased dramatically as a result of severe corrosion.
