Abstract:
A brief description of the influence of water-cement ratio on the strength and permeability of concrete. This discussion is accompanied by a simple means of envisioning the spatial relationships between cement grains and the surrounding water as a function of w/c. Cement grains are modeled as pennies against the background of a U. S. dollar bill which represents the total volume of cement plus water.
