Abstract:
The present state of the art of thin-section structures and basic factors impeding their progress are discussed. A general approach for insurjng their safety and serviceability, and distinctive features in terms of limit design are also included. Serviceability and particular limit states are emphasized. Some design methods are recommended, and ways of solving hitherto inadequately studied problems are outlined.
