Abstract:
There is a large gap between the poor overall quality of a large part of the presently built concrete structures on the one hand, and the breath- taking advancement of technological development on the other. Holistic quality of concrete structures has not kept pace with the technological development. Bridges are the most typical structures designed by engineers to exemplify what is meant. This article puts forth the notion that concrete bridges of today lack the multitude and pride that early concrete bridge construction had. Nowadays, the creativity is lost in bridge construction. Bridges are made from clumsy and monotonous girders made of prefabricated units.
