Abstract:
Higher construction costs, mushrooming extras, out-of-control budgets, and costly delays on the job site are reflections of how a construction job is organized and how owners and contractors deal with one another. Rarely are they the result of concrete, steel, or other materials issues. In these boom times in many construction markets, it’ easy to save owners hundreds of dollars by scrutinizing any set of plans. But thousands of dollars could be saved before a mixer truck ever arrives on the job site if owners and contractors would just consider doing six things differently.
