Abstract:
For the U. S. Postal Service new general mail facilities, tilt-up design and construction was selected in both Charleston, S. C., and Charleston, W. Va. With one of 214,000 ft 2 and the other of 253,500 ft 2 (19,881 and 23,550 m 2), site cast concrete wall panels were used for the two buildings. Other design features included a metal deck, joists and joist girders supported on exterior load-bearing tilt-up panels, and interior pipe columns.
