Abstract:
The advancement in numerical modeling and wide usage of computers by practicing engineers and others has brought about the frequent development of new software for design and analysis of complex engineering problems, such as soil-structure interaction. Gradually, these new models are replacing existing empirical methods. These models need to be verified with experimental data so engineers can use them with more confidence. The American Concrete Pipe Association has developed a Standard Installation Direct Design (SIDD) method for the structural design of reinforced concrete pipe. SIDD is an extension of the computer program PIPECAR developed by the Federal Highway Administration.
