Abstract:
Enhancement in designing durable concrete structures is very important to the professionals associated with concrete technology. The ingredients as well as the microstructures of concrete are focused to enhance the durability of concrete structures. In this article, the observations of several laboratory and field investigations are summarized. Based on these observations, several issues related to interfacial voids, chloride threshold values, crack widths, and type of bars, that is, plain and deformed bars, are cited. These issues are necessary to be considered to enhance to the durability of concrete structures.
