            Abstract:
A 21.3 km (13.2 mile) long flood mitigation channel was recently constructed on the outskirts of the new Jazan Economic City in Saudi Arabia. The channel lining comprises concrete reinforced with glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars. About 10 million lineal m (33 million lineal ft) of GFRP bars were used to reduce project execution time and enhance durability of the structure in the region’s harsh environment.
