Abstract:
ACI 318-19 contains new equations for calculation of concrete shear strength for reinforced concrete members. The changes reflect observations that concrete member shear strength is related to the member depth and to the percentage of flexural reinforcement. The article discusses the changes and provides examples of their effects on member designs.
