Abstract:
Three-part course includes:
- Introduction to Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC)
-
This course provides a brief introduction to self-consolidating concrete (SCC). New terminology is explained and used to introduce the properties of SCC. An overview of mixture proportioning leads into a broader discussion of production and placing considerations unique to SCC. The course is capped with an introduction to new test methods used in SCC quality control.
- ASTM Test Methods for Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC)
-
This course introduces you to five ASTM standards that were developed specifically for self-consolidating concrete: slump flow, J-ring, column segregation, penetration probe, and test specimen fabrication. Upon completion of this course you should be able to identify the ASTM standards, explain the purpose of and describe each procedure, and identify the equipment required for each standard. Copies of the ASTM standard documents are NOT included with this course.
- Testing Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC) Using Non-ASTM Test Methods
-
This course introduces you to three test methods that are used for self-consolidating concrete, but are not standardized by ASTM: L-box, U-box, and V-funnel. Upon completion of this course you should be able to identify the test methods, explain the purpose of and describe each procedure, and identify the equipment required for each standard. Copies of the reference standard documents are NOT included with this course.
