Abstract:
Reader questions are answered, showing that: when a formliner is used only in a portion of a wall, a significant amount of cover concrete may be required; maintaining cover at formliners by offsetting bars by bending should be approached with caution; concrete cover requirements may not be met when steel embedments are used to make connections, so corrosion and fire protection may be needed; and ductility requirements specified in ACI 318 Appendix D for embedded anchorages are intended to apply to cast-in anchor bolts and headed studs, not to supplemental or anchorage reinforcement.
