Abstract:
Tolerances for anchor bolt placement are specified in both ACI and AISC documents. Because the tolerances are not compatible, conflicts often arise when a steel structure is to be constructed on a concrete substructure. A discussion of the accuracy with which anchor bolts can be located and recommendations for resolving the conflicts in the specification of anchor bolt tolerances are provided.
