Abstract:
ACI 318-19 provides two methods for calculating the shear strength of the concrete section of a prestressed concrete member: a new, simplified method (Section 22.5.6.2) and detailed method (Section 22.5.6.3). The article focuses on modifying the detailed method and proposes changes to improve the ACI shear design process for prestressed concrete members in building structures. Modification of the simplified method is also proposed. These changes include an easier computational process with accuracy comparable to the current design method.
