Abstract:
Researchers at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore are examining a possibility of constructing offshore concrete structures extending from the seabed to above sea level. The upper portion of these structures would serve as new land while the volumes captured below the sea level could be used for storage tanks or other industrial purposes. These structures will require concrete mixtures with very high resistance to chloride ingress. Potential mixtures are discussed.
