Abstract:
Summerhouse Lagnö, in Västra Lagnö, Sweden, won the international House of the Year Award 2013. The client’s desire for a maintenance-free structure served as the inspiration to design the house as an integral part of nature. The terrace, interior floors, and facades of the building are made of exposed, natural-colored cast-in-place concrete formed using plywood formwork. The weight and color scale of concrete connects the house to the granite bedrock of the island setting.
