The American Concrete Institute (ACI) recently announced that La Libertad Dam, located in the municipalities of Linares and Montemorelos, Mexico, has been named the 2025 ACI Members’ Choice Award winner. This award, rebranded from the former People’s Choice Award, gives ACI Members the exclusive opportunity to recognize excellence in concrete construction. Voting took place for 24 hours following the completion of the 2025 ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards Gala in Baltimore, MD. Nominated by the ACI Central and Southern Mexico Chapter, La Libertad Dam is a roller-compacted concrete structure measuring 45 meters in height and 1,950 meters in length, including a spillway and intake works for potable water, irrigation, and ecological flow. The project strengthens Monterrey’s water security while showcasing sustainable construction practices through the use of 1.1 million m³ of ECOPact low-emission concrete, reducing approximately 80,000 tons of CO₂ emissions.
