The American Concrete Institute (ACI) will exhibit at the 2025 NCSEA Structural Engineering Summit, taking place October 14–17, 2025, at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City. Attendees are invited to visit ACI at booth #239 in the exhibit hall to learn more about ACI’s codes, standards, certification programs, and resources supporting structural engineers worldwide. ACI staff and ACI members will also deliver multiple presentations during the Summit. At ACI’s booth, visitors can engage with ACI representatives to discover the latest updates to ACI 318, view the updated Constructability Blueprint from PRO: An ACI Center of Excellence for Advancing Productivity, and learn about ACI’s growing suite of digital tools and online learning resources. ACI staff will also highlight opportunities for engineers to get involved in ACI committees, technical publications, code advocacy, and professional certification programs that advance the concrete construction industry. Technical Presentations On Wednesday, October 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tim Christle, Executive Vice President of the Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI), will present, “The New ACI-PTI 320-25 Post-Tensioned Structural Concrete Code,” The NewACI-PTI 320-25 Post-Tensioned Structural Concrete Code marks a significant evolution and advancement for the design of post-tensioned concrete structures. This presentation will revisit the recently concluded six-year cycle of development for this new code and outline the purpose for creating a code specific to post-tensioned structural concrete. Recommendations for how to use the code, and highlights of noteworthy code changes as compared to ACI 318-19 will be shared. Lastly, current cycle opportunities for change proposals associated with the planned 320-28 and 320-31 codes will be presented and promoted. On Thursday, October 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Andrew Taylor, Technical Director at KPFF Consulting Engineers and Chair of ACI Committee 318 – Structural Building Code – during the 2025 code cycle, will present, “Changes in the ACI 318-25 Building Code.” The 2025 edition of ACI CODE-318 contains several major revisions. These include new appendices on sustainability and performance-based wind design. Other changes refine and clarify existing provisions: hooked and headed bar development lengths continue to be researched and refined; shear strength provisions have been revised for basement walls, cantilever retaining walls, and spread footings; updates and clarifications of seismic provisions have been implemented in response to user input. These and other updates will be described, along with background on the reasons that the changes were made. The NCSEA Structural Engineering Summit brings together practicing structural engineers, educators, and industry leaders to share insights, discuss emerging challenges, and explore new technologies shaping the future of structural engineering. ACI’s participation in the Summit reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting the structural engineering community through collaboration, education, and innovation.
