The American Concrete Institute (ACI) announced today that Zhu Liu, PE, has been named East Asia Regional Manager in the ACI International Affairs department. The role of the East Asia Regional Manager was created to support ACI’s growing presence throughout the region. In this role, Mr. Liu will work closely with ACI’s international chapters, allied organizations, governmental bodies, educational institutions, and members in East Asia to expand engagement, strengthen collaboration on technical and educational initiatives, and support the implementation of ACI codes, standards, and certification programs. “East Asia is a strategically important region for ACI, and Zhu Liu brings both the technical expertise and local insight needed to enhance our impact,” said Frederick H. Grubbe, ACI executive vice president. “We are excited to welcome Zhu to this important position directly aligned with our Strategic Plan goals of engaging globally and advancing expertise.” Mr. Liu has more than 30 years of experience leading large-scale commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects globally from inception to successful delivery. His expertise includes construction project management, structural engineering, and design-build methodologies. In his recent position as vice president at LiRo-Hill, Inc., Mr. Liu led business development efforts and oversaw project execution. Mr. Liu obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Engineering Mechanics from Southwest Jiaotong University in Chengdu, China, and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and Maine. He has been an active member of ACI for more than 20 years and has participated in ACI 314 and 355 committees.
