Concrete Field Testing Technician—Grade I

ACI Field Grade 1 testing is the baseline credential for technicians performing concrete field testing. The ACI Field Grade 1 testing program verifies that you can properly sample, test, and document fresh concrete in accordance with ASTM standards. Owners, engineers, and contractors rely on this certification to confirm that field results are reliable and defensible. For many projects, ACI Field Grade 1 testing is a contract requirement.

The exam includes a written portion followed by a hands-on performance exam. You should arrive by 7:00 AM for registration. The written exam starts at 7:30 AM and covers procedures, tolerances, calculations, and reporting. After the written portion, you move directly into the performance exam, where you demonstrate correct execution of required tests. You must bring two No. 2 pencils and a basic-function pocket calculator. Programmable calculators, phones, earbuds, and Bluetooth devices are not allowed.

Strict exam-day rules apply. You must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes in the testing area. Open-toe shoes will get you turned away, no exceptions. Registration is capped at 50 people, so early sign-up matters.

No Call / No Show will result in the forfeit of all funds. Cancellation guidelines for refunds are as follows: 100% refund if cancelled seven days prior to exam, 75% refund if cancelled less than seven days and before 12:00 noon Friday before the exam 0% refund if cancelled after 12:00 noon Friday before the exam

Companies can offset costs by providing supplemental examiners. Each examiner earns a $205 credit toward full or performance exams, valid for one calendar year. You must call in advance to receive credit. Study materials can be ordered directly from the American Concrete Institute, and an on-demand ACI Field Grade 1 testing course is available through the ACI Louisiana website.
