The technical session “Substructure Design, Construction, Evaluation and Maintenance” will be held at the Spring 2026 ACI Concrete Convention in Rosemont/Chicago, IL, USA. This session is co-sponsored by ACI Committees 343 Concrete Bridge Design, 342 Evaluation of Concrete Bridges and Bridge Elements, and 345 on Bridge Construction and Preservation.
Solicited: Abstracts are invited on various issues and recent developments in concrete bridge substructure design, construction, evaluation, and maintenance. Substructure elements, such as bent caps, piers, piles, drilled shafts, and abutments are considered. The following topics are of special interest, among others: vehicular impact, retrofitting mechanisms, efficient cross-sections, deterioration modeling, machine learning, reinforcement detailing, strut-and-tie modeling, precast members, resiliency, and high-performance materials.
Requirements: 1) Presentation title; 2) Abstract of no more than 200 words; 3) Presenter(s) first and last name, title if any, affiliation, mailing address, phone, and email; and 4) Co‐author(s) first and last name, title if any, affiliation, mailing address, phone, and email.
