Duracrete/fib Bulletin 34 Service Life Model and AASHTO Guide Specification for Service Life Design of Highway Bridges Presented by: Brad Pease, COWI North America
Presentation details
Comparison of Corrosion Service Life Models (ACI Fall 2023, Boston, MA) Various codes, standards, guidelines, and engineering tools (both open source and proprietary) exist to assess the service life duration of reinforced concrete structures exposed to environmental conditions that promote chloride-induced reinforcement corrosion. In this session, several of these tools will be implemented on theoretical structural components located in Boston with a required 100-year service life, including a bridge deck, a marine pile and a marine wall constructed from one of three prescribed concrete mix designs. In this presentation, the implementation and conclusions of the probabilistic-based modeling approach presented in the fib Bulletin 34 and prescriptive requirements from AASHTO Guide Specification for Service Life Design of Highway Bridges will be described.

Take the Question Out of Field Concrete Testing with a Tool YOU can Use Presented by: James Mesite, Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association
Addressing Challenges in Quality of Field Acceptance Concrete Testing (ACI Fall 2023, Boston, MA) The CTAC program will be discussed through the long-standing issues seen regularly on project sites involved in Field Concrete Testing. A summary of the program will be shared, how it works and both the benefits to program users and how users can improve the testing industry through the sharing of information gathered through CTAC.
