Abstract:

A synopsis of the present methods of information exchange in the field of prestressed concrete reactor pressure vessels, particularly as handled by the Commission of the European Communities, is presented. Suggestions are also presented to aid the transfer of information.

Abstract:

This paper provides results of particular interest associated with the behavior under combined stresses of typical sections related to the models of vessel component in prestressed concrete (cap slabs - cylindrical wall section) during the pressurization up to the structural collapse. The paper points out the signifance of the analysis of concrete structure behavior by means of small dimension model structures and the contribution of these studies to a better understanding of the problem.

Abstract:

This paper describes briefly, in its first part, the design, the construction, the pressure and temperature testing of the two 1/5th models of a prestressed concrete pressure vessel built and tested in 1965/1966 at Chinon, to demonstrate the feasibility of the BUGEY-I P.C.P.V. operating under a pressure of 45 atmospheres, with a flat cap including 950 penetrations and without transverse tendons. . .
