Abstract:

Elastic design of prestressed concrete beams involves comprehensive analysis of stresses in concrete section under extreme opposite loading conditions, usually transfer of prestress and fully loaded service stages. . .The modified technique is described, formulas developed and specimen charts appended. The simplicity of design chart preparation, and the versatility of application of the graphical mehthod to prestressing tendon design are demostrated with examples.

Abstract:

On the basis of the author's research carried on since 1957, he defines strength limits of reinforced concrete beams, and strength in inclined cracking in particular. It appears that inclined cracking due to shear does not terminate the work of the beam.

Abstract:

This paper describes the test results of six reinforced concrete slabs with boundary frames and discussed the ultimate strength of reinforced concrete slabs. . .It was found that ultimate strength of shear largely depended on the dowel action of reinforcement.

Abstract:

Presents a method for the design of reinforced concrete girders for their shear strength. The method is based on a theory proposed by Iyengar and Rangan. Fifty rectangular beams were tested to check the working of the design method. These test results indicate that the proposed method of design is completely satisfactory except in the case of beams with single-legged skeleton stirrups.
