Abstract:
The development of lightweight concrete slabs in place of wood planks for pit or box sheeting elimi- nates future settlements of underpinned structures when the buried sheeting rots. Practical use has dem- onstrated that concrete planks add little to the cosl of such work. A summary of the history of box sheeting and of the various types used shows the possibilities for the use of concrete in this phase of construction work.
