Abstract: Describes a shallow floor system which was used in the design of the new men’s dormitories at the University of Wisconsin. A thick corridor slab was substituted for deep beams of the usual type, making it possible to reduce story heights, cut the cost of formwork, and simplify the erection of partitions.
