Abstract:
It is recognized that concrete changes in volume when subjected to stress (elastic deformation), sustained load (plastic flow), changes in moisture con-tent (shrinkage), and temperature changes. Formulas are given for estimating changes due to plastic flow and their effect on deflections, stress in the steel and stress in the concrete.
