Abstract:
The problems of stresses and deformations resulting from mposed loads, displacements, and temperature stresses in a concrete structure are formulated in general terms on the assumption of a visco-elastic behavior of the material. Concrete is assumed to behave as a visco-elastic material with age dependent properties and with a constant Poisson’s ratio. Examples illustrating the development of thermal stresses in a simple slab due to the heat of hydration and boundary cooling are presented.
