The elastic analysis of orthopolygonalstairways in a plane, fixed at both ends, is presented by two different methods. The first method is based on column analogy and Newmark’s numerical procedure for computing shears and moments. The second method is based on the determination of the constant second differences of the general expression of the end moments and then, by exact extrapolation, the moment for any number of steps can be obtained. The design of this type of stairway IS also drscussed.
