Abstract: Presents a method, based on the concepts of ultimate strength design, for the economical design of slabs. Method considers the cost of the slabc, subjected to a bending moment, as a function of the cost of concrete and reinforcing steel. The cost of formwork is considered a constant for any given depth of slab.
