Abstract:
This article exposes briefly the results of a comparative research about concrete bridges design using Spanish Codes and Eurocodes, coordinated by Laboratorio Central de Estructuras y Materiales of CEDEX. This research has been described in the publication "Concrete Bridge Design: Spanish Codes and Eurocode 2". Application of these two standards to real cases is compared in this research through the design of six medium span road bridges. Comparison considers technical aspects, analysing formulations differences between two standards, and also economic aspects, evaluating economically their differences. As results, most novel aspects observed during Eurocodes application and main differences detected in the analysed bridges design are showed, and their causes are analysed.
